Anna Castelli Ferrieri used metal, plastic and polyurethane to create furniture lines. Those choices were really innovative and ambitious for the time! She created iconic pieces of furniture for Kartell such as the “Componibili Tondi” (1969) and the “Componibili Quadrati” (1967) boxes. Biography Anna Castelli Ferrieri was born in 1920 in Italy. She studied at the Polytechnical Institute of Milan where she graduated in 1943. She was in admiration of the work of Le Corbusier and Franco Albini, she designed pieces of furniture with pure lines. She worked with great Italian architects for ambitious projects such as the reconstruction of Milan. In 1946, she founded her own studio and wrote for architecture magazines like Casabella Construction and Architectural Design. Anna Castelli Ferrieri married to Giulio Castelli, the leader of the famous manufacturer Kartell. She designed several pieces of furniture in plastic for the brand. She received three Compasso d’Oro: Anna Castelli Ferrieri was one of the greatest Italian designers.
