Hovmand-Olsen
Furniture by Hovmand-Olsen is characteristic of Scandinavian design: clear, simple, light lines. A prolific designer, he has created chairs, secretaries, tables and enfilades. Arne Hovmand-Olsen was born into a farming family in Denmark in 1919. He quickly developed an interest in drawing and design. He began his career in 1938 with an apprenticeship in cabinetmaking with P. Olsen Sibast. He was soon keen to design and produce his own creations. He decided to train at a technical school specializing in furniture design. Once he had completed his training, he opened his own studio. Success soon came knocking at his door: he sold in Denmark, but above all in the United States! His studio closed in the 1970s.
