Hauville began his career working as an industrial designer for companies such as Philips and Schneider Electric. In 1970, he founded his own design studio, where he worked on a variety of projects ranging from product design to interior architecture. Over the course of his career, Hauville has worked with many international companies, including Renault, Bang & Olufsen, Hewlett-Packard and Airbus. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Prix de la Ville de Paris for Design in 1986 and the Red Dot Award in 2001. Hauville's designs are known for their elegance and functionality. He was also a pioneer in the use of new materials and technologies in product design. Hauville retired in 2007 and now lives in Paris.
