Rob Parry

During his entire career, he designed several pieces of furniture and great success such as the 1611 armchair (more than 60 000 units). He also designed a dining chair in Plexiglas and humans shapes (1947), an armchair with adjustable back (1950) and a modular piece of furniture which has many functions: sofa, armchair and bed (1959). Biography Parry was born in 1925 in Holland. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts where he met great professors such as Cor Alons, Paul Schuitema and Gerrit Rietveld. In 1950, the designer founded his own studio. From 1954 to 1958, he worked with Emile Truijen. They designed together very beautiful pieces of furniture. Parru worked for the layout of interiors, stands and exhibitions. He also created pieces of furniture, jewels and toys. He taught architecture at the Willem de Kooning Academy of Arts during 30 years. The PTT mailbox he designed received the second prize during the Triennale in Milan in 1957. His work is exhibited in several Dutch museums.
