Egon Eiermann

He is renowned for his free spirit, the lightness of his style and his geometric curves. He designed several pieces of furniture including the SE line of chairs (1950) which are nowadays representative pieces of German design. Biography Egon Eiermann was born in 1904 in Germany. He studied at the School of Architecture of Berlin. He began his career in 1927 as an architect for Karstadt AG in Hamburg. Then, he worked for the Bewag architecture office in Berlin. Once the war is over and while pursuing his architect career, he taught at the School of Architecture in Karlsruhe. He built several buildings during the 30s but also the church of Saint-Mathieu in Pfrozheim in 1953 and the German pavilion for the Brussels World’s Fair in 1958. He played a major role in the German architecture and design.
