He began his career at Electrolux, where he worked for over 30 years. Sandström created numerous products for the brand, including vacuum cleaners, refrigerators and washing machines. He has also designed kitchenware, furniture and lighting for other companies. Over the years, Sandström has received numerous awards and honors for his design work, including the Lunning Prize in 1962 and the Red Dot Design Award in 2008. His work is known for its functional, minimalist aesthetic and its use of sustainable, environmentally-friendly materials. In addition to his work as an industrial designer, Sandström taught design at Stockholm University for many years. His legacy as a designer has influenced many design professionals and continues to inspire new generations.
