De Mey was best known for his work as a furniture designer, characterized by a combination of simple geometric forms and natural materials such as wood and stone. He also worked on architectural projects, objets d'art and interior design installations. During his career, De Mey won several awards and distinctions, including the Grand Prix de la Triennale de Milan in 1957 and the Prix National du Design Belge in 1978. His work is exhibited in many museums and private collections around the world. Jos De Mey was also known for his commitment to the environment and sustainability, and was one of the first designers to integrate sustainable development principles into his work.
