Vintage teak "radiogram" hi-fi cabinet for His Master's Voice, England 1970

Magnificent design for this Hifi cabinet, also known as a "radiogram", with built-in turntable from the English brand "His Master's Voice". Teak cabinet with built-in speakers. Inside, a vinyl turntable entirely overhauled by a professional - Le Prestige du Son - cleaning the mechanisms and changing the diamond. In the center, a control panel with a vinyl storage area at the front. On the right, a storage space originally designed for a tape recorder. Installation of a Bluetooth module (on the underside of the cabinet) to connect it to your various devices (phone, tablet, Bluetooth-enabled computer). The cabinet was fully restored in our workshop, while the turntable was completely overhauled by a professional - Prestige du Son - to give it a new lease of life. Note that 3 wooden bars on the front of the right speaker were broken and have been glued back in place, but the repair is visible (see photo). A plug is provided for mains connection. By the way: La Voix de son maître, known outside France as His Master's Voice (abbreviated to HMV), is an international music label of British origin, historically part of the EMI group, also part of the Sony Music Entertainment group for North America since the 2000s. Due to this diversity of ownership, the label has not been used internationally since the 1990s. HMV is also the brand name of a retailer of cultural goods (records, books) in a number of countries, which declared bankruptcy at the end of 2018. In France, from the 1950s onwards, La Voix de son maître was also a Pathé-Marconi brand for audiovisual equipment: record players, radios and TV sets. His Master's Voice was originally the title of an 1898-1899 painting by Francis Barraud, depicting a Jack Russell terrier dog named Nipper listening to the horn of a cylinder phonograph. This rare electrically-powered model was known as the "Edison-Bell phonograph", and was produced by Thomas Edison's factory for the British market alone. In 1931, the EMI Group was created, taking over the assets of the Gramophone Company, including the His Master's Voice (HMV) brand. In 1936, EMI set up the Pathé-Marconi subsidiary in France, translating the brand into the HMV logotype for French-speaking countries. Pathé-Marconi is often associated with the slogan "La Voix de son maître", because from 1936 until the mid-1990s, there was a vinyl record label, Les Industries musicales et électriques Pathé Marconi, renamed Pathé Marconi EMI in 1972. This music label is published by EMI. In the early 1950s, with the advent of LPs and the simultaneous decline in 78 rpm production, the label with the image of the Nipper dog was retained, but replacing the accompanying title Disque Gramophone with the brand name: in English His Master's Voice (sometimes abbreviated to HMV), in French La Voix de son maître, in Spanish La Voz de su Amo, and in Italian La voce del padrone. In the early 1970s, the name was changed to "EMI - La Voix de son maître", and the label on the LPs depicting the Nipper dog in front of the bell was reduced to a smaller rectangle. In the mid-1980s, this image of the Nipper dog was reintroduced in a larger format on "La Voix de son maître" labels. But in 1990, the label changed its name to "EMI France", abandoning any reference to Pathé-Marconi, and in the mid-1990s, the HMV label was no longer used by EMI in Great Britain, and the EMI Classics label took over.
