Desk lamp - Romeo model - Louis Kalff - Philips Netherlands - 1950-1960 Sublime desk lamp designed by Louis Kalff, considered one of the major pioneers of industrial design, published by the famous Dutch firm Philips. Composed of solid brass and a black lacquered metal shade. Excellent vintage condition with a nice patina, entirely original, no damage, works perfectly. Louis Christiaan Kalff [1897-1976] A pioneer of 20th-century industrial design, Louis Christiann Kalff was born in 1897. This Dutch graphic artist studied design, sculpture, ceramics and architecture. He began his career in the advertising department of the Philips household appliance company in 1924. He soon became head of the department and helped design the brand's logo. In 1929, he set up the lamp design workshop at Philips before becoming the brand's artistic director.
