Product description
Wonderful Japanese porcelain tea or coffee set consisting of a teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl service, and six cup and plate stands. This type of porcelain is called “eggshell” and is characterized by being extremely thin and fine, with even translucent walls, and is generally white in color, therefore resembling the shell of a bird's egg. The polychrome focuses on the handles, all of them orange, with thin black lines on the edges and a main element of geometric-vegetable shape combining both colors that is present in all the pieces. Each piece features the signature on the base.
The porcelain paste is composed of a mixture of kaolin, quartz and feldspar, selected very carefully to choose the highest quality, with a very fine grain. Kaolin is a pure, highly refractory clay, which is responsible for giving the paste translucency and whiteness. The feldspar acts as a melter during firing, and the quartz appears as a fundamental element for the formation of the pieces. The result is a material of great hardness and resistance, practically waterproof, and that acquires a shine and whiteness unthinkable for ceramics thanks to the temperature it reaches during firing.
