Fascinating decorative wall mask, in hand-glazed ceramic/pottery in a style close to the masks of the Dan tribe. Vintage or antique, unsigned, reminiscent of certain Vallauris productions created in the '60s. Stylized lippu face with pointed chin, high arched eyebrows, thin bridge of nose, small round skull, half-closed crescent moon eyes, high ears and lower cheeks marked with 2 vertical scarifications. Face surface in glossy, almost metallic black enamel with silver highlights, dark red lips, scarification and slightly translucent white enamel eyes showing the color of the orange earth, midnight-blue pupils. Some green effects can be seen on the edges of the motifs at the level of the black enamel. 22-23cm high max, 13-14cm wide max, 6-7cm thick. Very good overall condition, a few discreet chips, notably 2 on the right edge of the lower lip, one on the left cheek, 3 on the edge of the scarification marks on the left cheek and one above the right eye, again very discreet, 1mm or less. Approx. 600-750gr. Rare or unique piece.
