The seat shells of the Eames Plastic Chairs RE are made of post-consumer recycled plastic and can be combined with different bases. The base of the DAL chair (Dining Height Armchair La Fonda Base) was designed in 1961 by Charles and Ray Eames for the legendary La Fonda del Sol restaurant in New York. The interior of the restaurant had been designed by their friend Alexander Girard. With the central base consisting of four parallel supports that split at the bottom to form a four-star base, it is one of the most elegant and conventional bases designed by the Eames couple.
