Product description
This beautiful teak and black synthetic leather (skai) chair was designed by Danish industrial designer Erik Buck (1923). It is a classic of Danish design with its simple, smooth organic lines and characteristic mid-century modern design. In 1957, the chair was first produced by Povl Dinesen, but soon after its presentation in Copenhagen, production was handed over to Oddense Maskinsnedkeri who named it OD50.The chair is marked "Made in Denmark - Oddense Maskinsnedkeri AS" and also bears the trademarks Domus Danica and Danish Furniture Makers Control.Domus Danica was established in 1962 by Ken Muff Lassen and was a trade association of seven Danish furniture manufacturers. In 1968, Ken Muff Lassen sold his shares in Domus Danica to create IKEA in Denmark. The Danish Furniture Makers Control brand was a guarantee of high quality craftsmanship. This mark was introduced in 1959 by some of the best manufacturers, in collaboration with the Danish Institute of Technology. By the end of the 1960s, nearly 120 Danish furniture manufacturers were part of the brand. It was not easy to be part of the Danish Furniture Manufacturers Control Mark, as experts from the Institute of Technology monitored each factory for six months and furniture was randomly selected for testing. This chair is still in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of wear.
