Vintage Danish modular system by Poul Cadovius, Royal System. Designed in 1948 by legendary Danish designer and manufacturer Poul Cadovius, this iconic system was one of the world's first wall furniture systems. The Royal System was designed with the innovative principle of moving furniture from the floor to the walls, creating more space and light in the furnishings.
Poul Cadovius (1911 - 2011) was one of the most colorful and successful individuals in the history of the Danish furniture industry. Originally trained as an upholsterer, he became interested in design early on. In 1945, he founded his own furniture manufacturer, Royal System. A few years later, in 1948, he designed the iconic Royal System® wall system, followed by the award-winning System Ultra® in 1957 and System Cado® in 1960.
This particular system consists of one drawer cabinet and one shelf, all finished in beautiful rosewood. The system not only offers a stylish look, but is also extremely practical for storing various items. With its white wall slats, the rosewood stands out in particular!
The system is in very good condition. There are little to no signs of use. The furniture has been polished and put in an appropriate Danish oil, so it can last for years again!
