This exceptional and rare floor lamp was designed by Louis Kalff and produced by Philips in the 1950s, either for Philips in the Netherlands or Germany. A masterpiece of mid-century modern design, this lamp embodies Kalff’s signature aesthetic, combining elegant forms with functional lighting innovation.
It features a beautifully curved neck, giving it a refined, sculptural appearance. The striking yellow lacquered shade, with its softly curved form, produces a warm, diffused light that adds a touch of sophistication to any space. The base is adorned with brass details, complemented by distinctive white lacquered feet, creating a unique contrast that makes this lamp stand out.
Kalff was a pioneering designer who shaped the visual identity of Philips for decades. Starting in 1929, he led the Lichtadviesbureau (“Lighting Advice Bureau”) and eventually became art director in 1946.
