About this vintage design furniture

Ton van Kesteren (1942) is a much sought-after Dutch artist. He followed courses at the academy for visual arts St. Joost in Breda and at the academy V.S.V.U. in Bratislava. Ton lives and works in Hoorn in an old school building. His work is included in numerous collections and he exhibits at home and abroad. For Ton van Kesteren, painting is a continuous battle between order and chaos, between balance and distortion, between beautiful and ugly. The urge to escape from one’s own aesthetics is an important driver, it produces surprising and inspired work. The work has no symbolic meaning and does not draw any profound conclusions, the work of art stands on its own. The aesthetic experience matters. When you look at his abstract work, this raises questions such as: what do I actually see, when I look and what do I feel? His paintings almost always indirectly refer to nature. The painting arises from experience and memory without directly referring to it: the painter acts as a mediator towards the viewer. “The actual experience may have gone by, but the memory of it has solidified and is stilled in paint. Has become a painting.” This painting is in good condition 120cm x 120cm. The frame is 126.5cm x 126.5cm. Reference : 253498
