About this vintage design furniture

Hans Versteeg, from Groesbeek Netherlands, makes his sculptures of marble, granite or cast in bronze. “In my work I create a new language in which one can experience the multiple tensions between the polarities that seem incompatible with each other. Just as the masculine element contrasts with the feminine element, emotion relates to reason, chaos to order and harmony to conflict. I see it as a union of opposites which for me is the essence of life.” Versteeg’s work arises from a dialogue in three phases. During conception, the artist is in dialogue with himself, working out or rejecting the ideas in his mind. Then the physical dialogue with the material takes place: the granite or marble is polished and the bronze is cast. The final final phase consists of showing the resulting image, communication with the maker. This sculpture is 163cm in height and unique. Only 1 piece was made by Hans, though it does belong to a series that Versteeg made for placement in public space. This piece has been verified by Hans himself made in 1988 and is called ‘toenadering” this means ‘approaching’ in english. The work is signed and in good condition Reference : 251328
