About this vintage design furniture

This specialized drafting table was manufactured in the Netherlands and made by Rotanex-Pool, n.v. Wormerveer Holland during the 1950s. The table has a simple frame made of metal colored in a shade of light green. Both the inclination of the table top and its height are adjustable, it can be set in any position and stopped in a specific position, because the foot pedal regulates the movement. This type of table is very rare and sought after, especially for older architects and some structural designers who still rely on paper and pencil and make their artwork manually. It is not only a free-standing piece of furniture, but also a workplace with a history full of secrets. The table has an original drawing board, lamp, wooden ruler and movable arm. This kind of scaling tool is used in engineering drawing. It consists of a pair of scales mounted to form a right angle on an articulated angular head that allows rotation. The protractor head is free to move on the surface of the drawing board by sliding along two guides directly or indirectly anchored to the board. These guides, which operate separately, provide horizontal or vertical movement of the whole for the drawing board and can be locked independently of each other. The arms are balanced by a system of counterweights. The machine is mounted on a worktop with a hard and smooth surface. The table top is attached to a base that allows it to be tilted and lifted. In this way, the realization of the drawing can be achieved in the most convenient way on the work surface, which can be set at any angle from horizontal to vertical. In the drawing machine, you can perform a series of drawing operations that otherwise could only be achieved with the much more complicated use of a classic square and protractor, e.g. drawing parallel lines, orthogonal lines, inclined lines according to the angle setting, angle measurement, etc. For the comfort of work was even bigger - the drawing machine is equipped with a lamp on a bent arm, the switch of which is located in the shade. The table is in original vintage condition. All parts are fully functional. It has signs of age in the form of scratches, rust blooms and patina. Industrial condition. Reference : 248855
