About this vintage design furniture

Elda is the first chair to use large surfaces of plastic reinforced fiberglass. Its design was created in 1963 and began to be edited in 1965 by the publisher Comfort and then by F.Lli Longhi in the 2000s. For his design, Joe Colombo was inspired by the hulls of ships and he used the technology of shipbuilding to realize it. The self-supporting structure is placed on a swivel base with an overlay of upholstered cushions covered with leather. With its enveloping upper part, this piece of furniture creates a space in the room that isolates it acoustically from its environment. Colombo named it after his wife.Foam: polyurethane.Leather: Nero Madras Alce. Semi-aniline leatherSemi-aniline leather is a high quality, tanned hide immersed in a vegetable bath. The dye penetrates deep into the leather but does not color it. It forms a very thin protective layer that maintains the natural look and feel of the hide. Semi-aniline leather has an additional treatment that makes it more resistant than aniline leather. It has a better resistance to light and breathes better. Reference : 241483
