Matteo Grassi, MG5 Armchair, Italy, 1970. Cantilever armchair in chromed metal and black leather based on the B34 model by Marcel Breuer, reissued by Matteo Grassi in the 1970s. This chair with a pure line, has a chromed metal tubular structure. The back, seat and armrests are upholstered in black leather in excellent condition. It is stitched with saddle stitch, a technique of sewing with two needles, very popular because of its strength. We will underline the presence under this chair of two metal hoops with screw thread. They allow, in a simple and fast way, to adjust the tension of the leather and thus the firmness of the seat. It should be noted that the latter seems to be suspended, due to the absence of vertical feet at the back. This design, in addition to bringing an airy spirit to this seat, also offers the advantage of flexibility: it will adapt to the position of its user.
