Rare stunning paperweight by Alfredo Barbini (Murano, Italy, 1970s). Made of thick transparent Murano glass with a captured bubble. Minimalist and extremely decorative design. This paperweight is a great example of beautiful minimalist sculptural forms, which made Barbini a renowned creator. The paperweight is signed (etched signature). Diameter: 9.5 cm; height: 6.5 cm. Weight: 0.8 kg. Very good vintage condition, light wear consistent with age and use. Alfredo Barbini was one of Murano’s leading figures of the 20th century. He was one of a few who embraced minimalism when Murano glass-makers were focused on colorful designs.

About the designer
Alfredo BARBINI
Alfredo Barbini was a famous Italian designer and master glassmaker, born in Venice in 1912 and died in 2007. He began his career in the 1930s working for several glass companies in Murano, an island near Venice known for its production of high-quality glass. Barbini then founded his own company, Vetreria Alfredo Barbini, in 1950.
