About this vintage design furniture
This is something truly extraordinary This is the first time I’ve seen such a thing, and I’ve never seen anything like it. Floor lamp Cocoon made in the late 60s and early 70s in Italy. The lampshade consists of a metal frame covered with cocoon-textured foam (it is a multi-layered fibrous plastic), which is sprayed with a coating very similar to a cocoon. This method was first used by George Nelson in 1947 for his Bubble Hanging Lamps. The technique was developed for the conservation of Navy ships. There is no manufacturer’s mark on this product, but I think it is a cocoon made in Italy by Flos. Cocoon floor lamp in very good condition. Three E27 bulbs are fixed on the frame. Three separate parts are put on the metal base, fixed with enameled inserts. Cable length 2 m.
