Mid century Danish aluminium JK 810 chair by Jørgen Kastholm, 1968s

In 1968 Danish designer Jørgen Kastholm created the stunning JK 810 chair and up to this day the chair is still being produced at the exact same factory as back in the 1960s. The JK 810 is a unique Danish Design icon and the seating comfort is extremely good. The shell of the chair is created in PP enforced Glass fiber and covered with a smooth white colour with a three star aluminium base. This chair is the Lounge-version of the JK 810 which is slightly lower than the Dining-version. About the Designer: The Danish furniture designer Jørgen Kastholm created furniture where Form, Function and Finish comes together beautifully and his furniture are today considered as part of the Danish design DNA. Kastholm first trained as a blacksmith, and later went to study architecture at the School of Interior Design in Copenhagen under Finn Juhl. He graduated as an Architect in 1958 and worked for German manufacturer Kill International until 1967. In 1968, shortly after his Kill period, he designed the JK 810 Chair. Kastholm was appointed professor at Bergische University in Wuppertal where he taught design from 1975 to 1996. He continued his work both in Germany as well as at his house on Mallorca. He returned to Denmark shortly before he died in 2007.
