About this vintage design furniture

George Sowden’s ’Oppenheimer’ floor clock from Objects for the Electronic Age was made in 1983. Objects for the Electronic Age was a series of items designed by the Memphis Group, of which George J. Sowden was one of the finders, together with Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, and many others. The artwork is in dark green enameled steel, with a decorated orange front with glass and it has a black enameled steel and orange stained ash base. It bears an original label that states provenance, collection, year of production.
