About this vintage design furniture

Scandinavian style scissor wall lamp in solid teak wood with a new shade made from repurposed 1960s fabric. This print is called "Himalaya" by the legendary Austrian architect and graphic designer Josef Frank 1885-1967. The design was produced in the 1960s by "Svensk Tenn". The linen fabric is in great condition for being 60 years old. The shade is professionally made around a new wire frame. These so called scissor lamps in wood were very popular in Scandinavia during the 1960s. It stretches out to a full 60 cm and folds down to about 20. It is also adjustable sideways. The shade is 23 x 20 cm. It takes a standard E27 light bulb. Josef Frank studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology. Then taught at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts from 1919 to 1925. As an architect he rejected facade decor and preferred functional forms. The Viennese architect and furniture designer Luigi Blue refers to him as one of his idols. In addition to his architectural work he created numerous designs for furniture, furnishings, fabrics, wallpaper and carpets. "Svenskt Tenn" is a Swedish interior design store, founded 1924 in Stockholm by Estrid Ericson, an art teacher and pewter artist from Hjo, Sweden. Since 1928, the company has been appointed as a royal warrant.
