Rare, very beautiful pair of small Dogs or Lions Foo, Chinese guardians, in soft stone, soapstone, hand-carved. Vintage 60s-70s Chinese craftsmanship. Slightly translucent, speckled stone in shades of beige and light and dark gray, reminiscent of the texture of nephrite jade. Fine details, very nice carving. Each Dog/Lion sits on a rectangular base engraved with geometric friezes. 12.5-13cm total height, 9cm max length (bases) 5.2cm max width (base). Very good overall condition, however one is missing on the left side of the top of the head, the stone has small chips and scratches, light nibbling due to its soft nature, creating small white marks. Overall, clean, harmonious subjects, very decorative and can be used as small bookends. Approx. 800-900gr each.
