About this vintage design furniture
Ceramic wall sculpture designed by German artist Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker (1921-2010) for his Schäffenacker Studio in Germany in the 1950s. All his works are unique and made in small series of up to one hundred pieces cast in the studio from plaster negatives or with hollow plaster molds. This wall sculpture with its figurative representation is designed in his typical style. At first he designed everyday objects such as vases and dishes. In the second half of the 1950s, he made wall panels with relief decorations, mainly with figurative motifs. For example, he made animals as sculptures. Later, the forms of everyday objects were transformed into sculptural objects and the motifs of the wall panels became freer and more abstract. Condition is still very good, slight cracking in the glaze. Reinforced at the back in the Schäffenacker workshop (see photo's). Dimensions: h x w x d 40 x 40 x 5 cm. Marked with a raised stamp: partially still legible: Schäffenacker, hand formed, Ulm Do, Made in Germany.
