About this vintage design furniture
A lovely easy chair model D36, also known as the “Floating Chiar”, designed by Jean Prouvé and manufactured by Tecta in Germany around 1980. This eye-catching piece has a very interesting structure, made of tubular chrome plated metal with a spring in the center. This allows the floating seat that makes this chair such an iconic piece. The seat, back and armrests are made of black wicker. The spring in the frame can be adjusted to create a rocking like movability for the seat, creating a truly unique, mobile seating experience This chair’s unique design allows it to hold a maximum of 100kg. It remains in good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.

About the designer
Jean PROUVE
1901 - 1984Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) was a French designer and builder. Born in Nancy, he began working in his father's iron workshop before studying art and design at the École de Nancy. In the 1920s, he began designing metal furniture and founded his own company, Ateliers Jean Prouvé, in 1923.
