Vintage floor lamp by Oscar Torlasco for Lumi, Italy
About this vintage design furniture
This iconic floor lamp was designed by Oscar Torlasco and manufactured by Lumi, Italy. This lamp was a symbol of modernist 1950s, due to its fixtures and design. It was designed during the period of Torlasco's's technical growth. In 1959 he won the Italian Design award Compasso d’Oro for his street lighting titled Genova 4053. This floor lamp is one of his earlier pieces "Genova 3865", it was commissioned for a client in Cagliari, I am given to understand a rare and unique piece of Torlasc'’s design. This lamp has a brass base and main structure with 3 arms, which can been turned to different angles, very flexible, and it has 3 coloured lacquered shades. The shades are in original condition and the red one in particular is quite flaky but I did not wish to touch it as it is for the buyers own choice whether they wish to recolour, it is a matter of individual taste All parts are original and the only thing that has changed is that it has been rewired. This is an absolutely beautiful piece and will make a stunning statement in your home or office
