Sjer Jacobs is a Dutch artist well known for his human-looking sculptures.His fascination with people began with drawing early in his life. The portraits he made at the Vrije Academie naturally turned into complete people. There is plenty to work with, as he enjoys observing people, almost shamelessly, looking at faces, postures, movements and their relationships.Sjer stores these images of people in his memory and hardly thinks about them anymore. But when he needs them, he shows up and turns them into paint, clay or plaster.Just as shamelessly as Sjer stored them. From then on, they lead a life of their own. They tell their own story.
