About this vintage design furniture

This design chair stands out for its very successful use of geometry. Charles Rennie Mackintosh uses the codes of Japanese aesthetics with the use of crossed horizontals and verticals. The oak slats are blackened. This provides a nice contrast with the room in which it is located, notably the Willow tea room in Glasgow originally. The wrap-around backrest allows the user to be isolated like a high gondola chair or a confessional shepherdess. The semi-circular seat is upholstered and the base remains solid to provide a better contrast in the room to be furnished.
