About this vintage design furniture
Lovely pair of recliner chairs ’Arktis’ (Arctic) made by Hans Brattrud for Hove Furniture, Norway in 1961. Based on the same lamination technique as his Scandia chair - Arktis is no less beautiful with its linear design and special look. The chairs are of massive beech. Both beautiful and practical, these chairs are nice to look at and good to sit in. Made in the best Viking tradition and in good vintage condition Measures: 73 cmH x 60 cmW x 66 cmD and 38 cm seatheight. The chair Arktis were shown at the exhibition "Norweigan icons" - important Norwegian designs 1940-75 in Oslo-Tokyo and New York.

About the designer
Hans BRATTRUD
Hans Brattrud (1933-1987) was a Norwegian industrial designer best known for his iconic "Scandia" chair. He was born in Kristiansund, Norway, and studied at the National School of Arts and Crafts in Oslo (now the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs).
