Pretty brown earth tone pottery vase from designer Mari Simmulson's "Moske" line, produced for Upsala Ekeby in 1967. The Moske vase has a rough, rustic surface and a delicate shape. It is beautiful as is or with flowers in it. Good vintage condition and perfect Scandinavian design. Marked 7087M and EU Sweden. 23cmH, 11cmD. Good original condition Mari Simmulson (1911-2000) was born to Estonian parents in St. Petersburg, Russia. During the Russian revolution of 1917, the family returned to Estonia. In the 1930s Mari studied at the Tallinn School of Art and furthered her education at the Arabia Porcelain Factory in Helsinki. Mari Simmulson is one of the best-known representatives of Sweden's illustrious 20th century ceramic design. She was one of the leading designers at Gustavsberg and Upsala-Ekeby in the 1940s-60s.

About the designer

Mari SIMMULSON

Marie Simmulson was a Swedish designer born in 1911 in St Petersburg, Russia. She moved to Sweden in 1915 with her family, where she studied at the Göteborg School of Decorative Arts. She went on to study at the Konstfack School of Art in Stockholm, graduating in 1936.
