About this vintage design furniture
A floor lamp from the ’Sintesi’ range designed by Ernesto Gismondi for Artemide in 1973. This rare edition has a chrome tripod base, with a telescopic stem that can be adjusted in height. It has a black shade with an aluminium reflector. The lamp is in a very good, original condition. Gismondi founded Artemide in 1960 which to this day produces some of the most innovative and interesting lighting that comes from Italy. The Sintesi range was well ahead of its time and although predates postmodernism bears seminal characteristics of the movement. A close friend of Ettore Sottsass, Gismondi provided the capital to get the Memphis Milano collective off the ground and into production and remains a major shareholder.
