Sculptural, organic design classic! When in the early 1960s the English Gimson & Slater is looking to connect with the market for modern furniture, they decide, according to tradition, to look in Scandinavia for useful designs and look for parties who can help design, for that time, hyper modern furniture. In Norway, according to various sources, the basis for this unique armchair arises, which is later included in the supply program under the name "Rock 'n Rest Chair" At its introduction, it is one of the most strikingly designed pieces of seating of its time, the bold move to opt for Scandinavian-inspired furniture bears fruit and the chair is soon on sale in several countries. Various local furniture factories in a range of countries license this chair, with or without some modification, and produce their own variants. This creates several variations in types of wood, and adjustable or non-adjustable seats. If in the first half of the 1960s you were looking for something outspoken, something of top quality and a piece of furniture that sat exceptionally well, this model was what the exclusive interior design store would want to sell you. This one, has recently been completely rebuilt in-house. And of course neatly adjustable in various positions. The upholstery including cushions was completely renewed in 2025 and looks more beautiful and richer than it ever was. The very best foam, the finest fabric, and the best upholsterers have made this armchair a true work of art. The following fabric was used: The fabric is Keymer Richwool color number 47. Richwool is an environmentally friendly furniture fabric. The combination of pure new wool and alpaca wool provides a rich look and unprecedented softness.
