About this vintage design furniture

Sofa dimensions : - Width: 185 cm - Depth: 70 cm - Height: 78 cm Materials: Solid beechwood, woollen fabric Manufacturer : FDB Møbler Designer: Erik Ole Jørgensen Sofa dimensions : - Width: 185 cm - Seat width: 154 cm - Depth: 70 cm - Seat depth: 52 cm - Height: 78 cm - Seat height: 42 cm The wooden sofa is typical of the golden age of Danish design. With this in mind, Erik Ole Jørgensen designed the J146, J148 and J149 rod chairs and sofas in 1978 for FDB Møbler. The style is characteristic of the "J" series with a backrest and curved, steam-curved armrests supported by turned wooden bars. The sleek styling of this series is complemented by removable seat and back cushions, simply attached with thin strips of natural leather. The cushions are covered with a woollen fabric - Crisp - made by one of the major brands of upholstery fabrics: Gabriel. FDB Møbler is a Danish consumer cooperative established in the 1940s and originally headed by Børge Morgensen. Their goal: to make affordable designer furniture for the general public. Erik Ole Jørgensen was a Danish furniture architect, originally trained in upholstery design. Suffering from polio, he was admitted to Frederiksberg Hospital after the war. He spent a lot of time painting watercolours, which allowed him to develop his sense of colours and their combinations. Years later, he began his training as a furniture architect and in 1948 he passed his final exam at the School of Arts and Crafts. During his career, he has designed furniture and fabrics. His simple and functional furniture places him among the best Danish furniture designers. One of his most famous pieces of furniture is this series of sofas, originally designed for FDB Møbler.
